This post is coming at you a year late. Ava is currently in the middle of her third grade year and we are still homeschooling. I’m going to share our third grade curriculum soon but first let’s back track to second grade. The first half of the year we followed the Classical model as close as we could. In the second half of the year (we school year round) I started incorporating some Charlotte Mason concepts into our homeschool, specifically, shorter math lessons, narration, and the addition of nature journals.
We are starting our first grade homeschool here at the Wannabe Homestead and we’ve got a ton of new books. We’re following the Classical Model of Education BUT you don’t have to follow the Classical model to enjoy these books- I think they’d be awesome for any 1st grader!
So far, my daughter and I have been taking homeschooling nice and slow but now that she is six, I’m ramping learning up by adding more subjects. We’re following the Classical model of education which I believe to be the most clear-cut and time-tested form of education there is (that’s just my opinion, there are other great models too).
I’m homeschooling my soon-to-be 5 year old using theClassical method of education. Annnd it’s going really, really well! I’m following the schedule and resource recommendations of A Well-Trained Mind by Jessie Wise. The book guides you completely through your child’s education- from preschool to entrance into college.
