It’s August and I have the canning bug. I’ve wanted to can for a long time but considering my old kitchen had a useable counter space of about 30 inches (yep, 30 inches) I literally had no where TO can. Well, those days are gone and I now have a beautiful, spacious kitchen. Yes, we remodeled it and it is 80% complete! Back to canning.

How to Make Fireflies in a Bottle

I’ve been collecting wine bottles for the past 3 years with plans to turn them into a wine bottle lamp. I’m by no means a crafty person, but the fact that 3 empty bottles survived a move AND my massive KonMari clean out shows my dedication to this project; I wanted to make something, dang it.

Giant Homeschool Book Haul for 1st Grade

We are starting our first grade homeschool here at the Wannabe Homestead and we’ve got a ton of new books. We’re following the Classical Model of Education BUT you don’t have to follow the Classical model to enjoy these books- I think they’d be awesome for any 1st grader!

Our Classical First Grade Curriculum

So far, my daughter and I have been taking homeschooling nice and slow but now that she is six, I’m ramping learning up by adding more subjects.  We’re following the Classical model of education which I believe to be the most clear-cut and time-tested form of education there is (that’s just my opinion, there are other great models too).

Installing a New AC Unit + An Epic (Potential) Failure

When we were inspecting our new trailer during the Are-we-really-gonna-buy-this-thing stage, we immediately noticed that the AC unit would have to be replaced. We knew the heat  didn’t work because the reversing valve was stuck, but exactly when the AC would go out was anybody’s guess.
