My name is Stephanie and this is my family.
I’ve been bit by the homestead bug and it’s my dream to own one someday. I want to live a more healthy, homegrown, and self-sufficient life. I started this personal blog in 2012 with the hope that it would chronicle my family’s exodus out of the city and into the country and from debt-bondage to financial freedom. Since then we paid off over $60,000 worth of debt and paid cash for a small home in the Ocala National Forest. Four years later we are still 100% debt free.
If we can do it, you can too.
You can read more about our money journey here:
A self-sustaining homestead is my goal but I’m not a farmer by any means. We are slowly working up to debt-free farmland on a few acres. In the meantime we keep busy by renovating a 1972 mobile home. We cash-flow everything and do all the work ourselves.
This tiny mobile home has allowed us to enjoy slow days and each other. We learn at home, cook at home, and heal at home.
This blog is about not having the best of everything but making the best of everything.
I believe in blooming where you’re planted.
I was born and raised in central Florida, moved to Tennessee briefly and moved back to beautiful north Florida. I’m Brian’s wife and girl-mom to Ava and Anna. God blessed me when He placed these three in my life.
I love food. I love people who love food. And I especially love people who can grow their own food. I love cooking. And eating. We already covered that. I also love a good forest ride and wearing flip-flops.
I’m old-fashioned and adore the older ways of living; vintage Pyrex, aprons, recipes.
I think wisdom is more important than knowledge and seek the truth no matter what preconceived notions it may shatter. I’m a mediocre writer and wannabe photographer. Jesus is my King.
Thank you for reading and good luck on your journey to health and self-sufficiency.
